Isolator Glove Box Gauntlets
A range of isolator gauntlets available in a variety of different materials, lengths and port sizes suitable for use in fixed and mobile isolator units.
Potential applications for the isolator gloves and glove box gloves are diverse, with specific gloves in the range suitable for use in anaerobic glove boxes, dry glove boxes, glove box systems, inert gas glove boxes, lamina flow biological safety cabinets and all general laboratory glove boxes and ventilated work enclosure glove boxes.
Key Features
Background
As part of our diverse product portfolio, BM Polyco is a major supplier of isolator gauntlets to the pharmaceutical and other contamination sensitive industries.
Our range of products, manufactured under an ISO9001:2008 quality system include the following materials;
- Polyurethane
- CSM®
- Neoprene®
- Neoprene coated with Viton®
- Natural rubber latex
- Butyl
Each dry box gauntlet is individually tested and the thoroughness of these tests provides total security for the user.
All material types are available in a comprehensive range of hand sizes, port sizes, lengths and come in hand specific or ambidextrous fit. In addition, we offer a range of sleeves made from the same materials that offer extra flexibility to users of isolator box consumables. These sleeves can be fitted with a variety of attachments offering different fitting and releasing methods.
Polyurethane
Polyurethane provides safety against mechanical risks of tear strength, perforation and breaking. The grade of Polyurethane used to manufacture this gauntlet has been chosen for its mechanical properties and low modulus.
It allows you to operate in high oxidizing environment including ozone, active oxygen and free radicals and its resistance against natural ageing and UV radiation is excellent.
It is suitable for handling chemical products such as:
- Concentrated hydrochloric acid
- Nitric acid
- Ammonia 32%
- Sodium hydroxide 40%
- Alcohols
- Alkanes up to pentane
- Edible oils
- Mineral oils
This gauntlet is not suitable for handling:
- Aromatic solvents
- Chlorinated solvents
- Alkanes from hexane onwards
- Plasticisers (types TBP)
CSM
CSM is Chlorosulphonated polyethylene and shows its true strength when exposed to high temperatures, oxidizing chemicals and oxidizing environments such as ozone, active oxygen and free radicals. It resists flex cracking and abrasion as well as the damaging effects of weather, UV radiation and ageing. CSM has demonstrated long life in harsh environments and is used in a wide range of industrial and automotive applications that require high performance. In addition it offers good flame resistance and good mechanical and low temperature properties.
The type of CSM used in our range of isolator gauntlets has been chosen to give a low modulus product and a very flexible gauntlet.
This material is suitable for:
- Oxidizing products
- Acids
- Alkalis
- Alcohols
This glove is not suitable for handling:
- Ketones
- Aromatic solvents
- Plasticisers
Neoprene
Neoprene is made of polychloroprene rubber. It provides good resistance to the effects of ozone ageing, oxygen, weathering, heating and chemical products. Neoprene is self-extinguishing material therefore providing excellent flame resistance for the gauntlet. It is the ideal elastomer, which provides best compromise to resist the conjugate action of several potentially harmful agents such as oil and ozone or heat and oil. It allows operating in high oxidizing environments including ozone, active oxygen and/or free radicals. It is resistant to natural ageing.
Neoprene offers increased resistance to ozone, petroleum based chemicals and heat and oils, whilst maintaining good flexibility.
This material is suitable for:
- Oxidising products
- Acids
- Alkalis
- Alcohols
- Petrol
- Mineral oils
This glove is not suitable for handling:
- Chlorinated solvents
- Aromatic solvents
Viton
Viton is a Fluoroelastomer well known for its high heat resistance, heat stability (up to 200°C) and offers excellent resistance to aggresive fuels and chemicals.
Particularly valued for its excellent resistance to aggresive fuels and chemicals, Viton is the most specified fluoroelastomer for fuel system seals and hoses, O-rings, shaft seals, expansion joints and gaskets. New types of Viton are versatile, offering improved capabilities in steam, solvents, highly caustic environments and low temperatures.
Because it extends the thermal resistance of mid-performance elastomers, Viton is used extensively in aggressive automobile fuel systems, aircraft and chemical processing environments.
Natural Rubber Latex
Natural rubber is renown as one of the most comfortable and stretcable elastomers available. This means that over prolonged use, the material's properties ensure that hand fatigue is minimised.
It is suitable for handling chemical products such as:
- Acids
- Alkalis
- Alcohols
It is not suitable for handling:
- Aromatic hydrocarbons
- Chlorinated solvents
- Ethers & esters
Natural rubber is ideal for applications where tear and abrasion resistance is required.
Butyl
Butyl is an elastomer made from isoprene - isobutylene copolymer rubber. it has low permeability to gas and good resistance to chemical products, which allows it to be used in operations carried out in highly oxidizing environments including active oxygen and free radicals.
This material is particularly recommended for:
- Oxidizing products
- Acids
- Alkalis
- Alcohols
- Ketones
This glove is not suitable for handling:
- Gasoline
- Aromatic solvents
- Oils and plasticisers
