Polyco’s ‘Assessing Hand Protection’ course is the first on the subject to be accredited by the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH). The one-day course is designed to give health and safety professionals and other duty-holders involved in selecting the most appropriate hand protection the knowledge they need to navigate this often complicated process and avoid potential costly mistakes.
Delivered by health and safety expert and former IOSH president Gerard Hand, alongside Polyco’s technology director, Bernard Garvey, the highly interactive course comprises nine sessions. The sessions alternate between theory and practical group exercises, covering the basic principles and processes involved in evaluating and selecting the right hand protection for a variety of tasks.
Specific topics addressed during the day include:
Legislation (PPE Directive, EN standards)
Types of hand protection
Materials used – pros and cons
Hand protection policies
The course is held at Polyco’s headquarters in Enfield, Middlesex and delegates will have the opportunity to take a tour of the company’s UKAS-accredited testing facilities.
The day concludes with a final assessment, featuring 10 short, multi-format questions. Successful candidates will receive an IOSH certificate.
