I have been working at Polyco for over 22 years and in that time I have worked my way up through the ranks starting as a Warehouse Operative, moving onto being a Supervisor, to finally the position I hold today. My job can be challenging at times, especially when I had to manage the integration of company acquisitions but I love the challenge and having something ‘to get my teeth into’. I’m passionate about seeing my team happy, I like seeing them flourish in their roles and providing them with the support they need. I run a ‘tight ship’ but believe this pays off in the service we deliver to our customers. It is exceedingly satisfying to know that our customers’ orders are sent out on time and I love to hear feedback regarding happy customers from our sales managers – it gives the team and I a great sense of achievement.
I began working at Polyco in November 2003 and this is my second job since graduating from University. Since joining Polyco, I’m particularly proud to have been part of the team that drove forward product development of the Metallica glove that ultimately led to the product being awarded the British Safety Industry Federation’s Product Innovation Award and also to have been part of the team which has developed the most comprehensive range of professional hand protection available in Europe. I love being part of the Polyco team and over the coming years I’m excited to be playing my part in helping Polyco remain as the UK’s leading hand protection specialist and to continue our successful growth into Europe and beyond.
I joined Polyco in February 2001 and since then have never looked back. From the initial first interview at Polyco I felt welcome, Polyco’s friendly approach really shone through. My first role was as a Customer Service Administrator and throughout the years I have been offered fantastic opportunities to develop my role and take on more responsibility. I’m passionate that every customer we deal with gets off the phone feeling satisfied, with confidence in us as a team and a company. I love solving problems for customers from start to finish as with proper research we have the opportunity to shape our customers view of Polyco and its products.
I have been part of the Polyco team for the past five years; I was initially attracted to applying for a position here as it is a local company but of a significant size. Since joining Polyco, I have been involved in a number of projects including two acquisitions which meant a large amount of work including the integration of staff and processes – something that was both challenging but ultimately rewarding! It is particularly satisfying to see that all the hard work that the team at Polyco put into their job pays off in terms of profitability and customer service - Polyco’s turnover has nearly doubled since I joined – an achievement that we are all proud of!
I chose to work at Polyco and not another manufacturing business in the industry as I found it appealing that the company had a strong focus on technological competence and quality, together with wanting to be something different from its competitors, a refreshing change in this industry. The part of my role that I find particularly gratifying is ensuring that our products are of high quality and consistently amongst the best in the marketplace. One of my career highlights at Polyco was when my department obtained the prototype dipping system that means we are now able to make prototype products ourselves. Over the coming years I look forward to seeing Polyco continue its path of product diversification as well as diversify geographically, it would be great to increase our market share in mainland Europe. I would also like to see the Technology Centre increase its amount of testing work and be seen as an ‘industry leading laboratory’ in its own right.
